Introduction

Jiaya is a philosophical and spiritual framework built around the recognition of Ji — the fundamental reality that underlies and connects everything in the universe. Ji should not be understood as being or a force; it is the structure of existence itself. Through Ji, the universe unfolds as a single, interconnected whole. To live in harmony with Ji means to act with awareness and compassion, reduce harm, and shape both one’s personal life and the world’s social structures in ways that reflect the natural interconnectedness of all things.

Beyond its ontological grounding in Ji, Jiaya’s ethical foundation rests upon the Four Principles, which explain the world’s structure and tendency toward integration; the Seven Teachings, which describe the nature of existence and experience; and the Ten Virtues, which guide ethical action and inner transformation. Together, they form a holistic vision of life as a process of conscious participation in the universe.

The aim of Jiaya is practical as well as spiritual. It was formulated in response to an Age marked by fragmentation and erosion of meaning. It reconnects contemporary man to the timeless truths of the past, while grounding itself in a measured, humble empiricism. Through Jiayan practice, one comes to dissolve the barrier between self and other, understanding the individual as nothing more than a helpful but provisional distinction within a cosmic unity in eternal flux.

Jiaya draws upon the insights of early Buddhism and Christianity, Stoicism, Taoism, Spinozism, Neoplatonism, Advaita Vedanta, and the Bahá’í Faith, refracted through the lens of process philosophy. I believe the most accurate descriptor for it is “pulse ontology” — reality understood in terms of pattern and relation as opposed to mere material. Jiaya is a worldview that views the cosmos as an evolving unity, sees morality revealed through the lived consequences of flourishing and fragmentation, and seeks coherence across world traditions and teachings without erasing their differences.

Etymology

The word Jiaya derives from Ji and the Sanskrit suffix –aya, meaning “going” or “moving.” Ji derives from the Sanskrit verb-root jīv, which means “to breathe” or “to live,” most commonly used in words like jīva or Jivātman, referring to an individual living being imbued with life force. In Jiaya, however, jīv is applied on a universal scale: the entire cosmos forms a single, interconnected, interdependent entity. Thus, “Jiaya” signifies “moving with” or “returning to” Ji and cosmic balance.
